The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, expressed his country’s respect for the will of the Syrians and supported the political solution to the Syrian crisis, during his reception on December 21, for a delegation from the Syrian Democratic Council at the headquarter of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the capital, Cairo. The Syrian Democratic Council delegation included the Co- President of SDC, Riyad Darra, the President of the Executive Committee , Ilham Ahmed, and the Deputy of Co-Presidency of Self-Administation for North and East Syria, Badran Jia Kurd, in addition to the member of the Presidential Council in SDC, Sihanouk Dibo, while the Egyptian delegation included alongside Minister Shukry, his deputy, Nazih Al-Najari.
The meeting discussed political developments in the Syrian scene, especially the recent Turkish aggression on Northern and Eastern regions of Syria and the humanitarian crisis left by the Turkish invasion. The delegation of the Syrian Democratic Council talked to the Egyptian side about the catastrophic results that resulted from the Turkish aggression and the sufferings of IDPs, as well as its occupation of parts of the Syrian territory and its threat to Syria and its sovereignty. Minister Shukri described the Turkish operations in the region as expansionist and dangerous, adding that the Arab Republic of Egypt rejects Turkish moves in the region, especially in Syria. Minister Shukri promised that these meetings will enable to hold other wider meetings in Cairo, and activate the joint work in order to thwart the occupation plans of Turkish state aimed at fragmenting and partitioning the region. The delegation of the Syrian Democratic Council through Minister Shukry, presented a message of thanks to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its president, Mr. Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, for their supportive positions with Syrians and the issue of the Kurdish people in Syria. This meeting is the second one between the Syrian Democratic Council and the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, where Minister Shukry received a delegation from SDC after theTurkish aggression last October.
