Qatar sanctions must include Turkey says Egypt’s President Al-Sisi

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi

Egyptian president Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi urged Gulf leaders to expand sanctions to include Turkey, the New Arab daily reported on Thursday.

Sources reported by Middle East Monitor claim that Sisi, in a meeting with the Bahraini King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa last Thursday in Cairo, accused Ankara of funding and hosting “terrorist groups” such as the Muslim Brotherhood.

There was no information on the Gulf leaders’ reactions following Sisi’s push to include Turkey.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday denounced the isolation of Qatar as “inhumane and against Islamic values”, and said the methods used against the Gulf state were unacceptable.
