2017 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships kick off in St. Moritz

ST. MORITZ (KDN) – FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2017 kick off on February 6 with an opening event in St. Moritz, Switzerland. This year’s event marks the 5th time in history that FIS Alpine World Ski Championships will be hosted in the Swiss popular ski resort of St. Moritz.

“World Ski Championships 2017 in St. Moritz: fast, thrilling and legendary – but also authentic, atmospheric and innovative.” this is the slogan chosen by organizers for the most anticipated event of the Skiing world.

A total of 600 athletes both ladies and men from 77 countries across the world will compete for medals and the title of World Champion in the six disciplines Downhill, Giant Slalom, Super-G, Slalom, Super Combination and in the Team Event.

First race of the World Ski Championships 2017 will take place on Tuesday with ladies Super G and will continue until February 19th.

The Alpine World Ski Championships are the most important championships in alpine ski racing and are held every two years.

For Engadiners St. Moritz 2017 is already the fifth major event of its kind.
