Syrian Kurds’ Federation Model Gets Positive Feedback From European Society

There was a positive response from the European countries and European society on the model of the Federation of Northern Syria that was declared by the Syrian Kurds in March, according to a European representative of the Foundation of Free Women of Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan).

The model of the Federation of Northern Syria that was declared by the Syrian Kurds in March was positively taken in the European society, a European representative of the Foundation of Free Women of Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan), said Thursday.

“There was a positive response from the European countries and European society on this federation model. They actively support it,” Meike Nack told reporters.

At a constituent conference in the Arab republic’s Hasakah province on March 17, the Syrian Kurds announced the creation of the so-called Federal Democratic System of Rojava and Northern Syria. Some 200 delegates from Syria’s north, home to a predominantly Kurdish population, attended the conference.

The Kurds are a Middle Eastern ethnic group with the population of some 30-35 million living mainly in Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria.
