Kurdish leader condemns deadly Istanbul bombing

HDP co- leaders Demirtas and Yüksekdas have been imprisoned by Turkish government

ANKARA, – The co-leader of the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Selahattin Demirtas offered his condolences to the families of those lost in the “brutal massacre.”

“We condemn the massacre in Sultanahmet,” Demirtas said to a meeting of his fellow party members.

Sultanahmet (Hippodrone) is a popular tourist destination in Istanbul. It is home to both the iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia.

The bombing, which Turkey blamed on ISIS, killed 10 German tourists and wounded more than dozen.
