President Masoud Barzani praises MOL Group’s commitment to Kurdistan

Budapest (KDN) – In a joint press conference with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Mr. Masoud Barzani, President of Kurdistan Region of Iraq, praised the great commitment shown by MOL Group towards Kurdistan.

“MOL Group made a brave decision to stay in Kurdistan when when we faced threats from terrorists. Kurdish people appreciate this,” stated President Barzani who is in a two-days visit to Budapest where MOL Group headquarters is located.

During his Hungary visit, President Barzani and his delegation met with MOL Group’s Chairman-CEO Zsolt Hernadi and Upstream chief Alexander Dodds.

MOL Group has been present in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq since 2007, when its subsidiary MOL Kalegran signed a contract for Akri-Bijeel Block as operator and farmed into Shaikan as minority partner. Since then recent years’ three Successful discoveries made Kurdistan Region of Iraq the most promising growth area for the Group.

Kurdish leader arrived in Budapest from the US after meeting president Barack Obama and members of US Congress.
